On to the third book of Tales of Otori - Lian Hearn, which I need to buy when I
have time. Really good book and a best seller also. Can't wait to finish it!
I like a lot of Japanese bands so I won't bother listing them. But I do have a
new band that I recently got into; Mongol 800, japanese indie band from Okinawa!
They their lyrics are poetic-melodic and really.... FUNKY and FUN.
Yo, OP here. Nice to see this thread still alive after I made it a few years
back. Geez, all of you have some pretty nice mobile/cell phones.
Better stay on topic. xD Anyways, I've got a new phone after upgrading my
contract and it's the rival (well kind of. xP) to the Nokia N95 w/ or w/o the
8gb; the Sony Ericcson K850i. Just like Sakura's phone, a heavyweight, sexy, has
many functions and extremely bulky.
This idea is still up and I haven't done much progress on figuring out what the
storyline is, but I'm hoping for more people to join so we can come up with a
good decent story, genre and etc as a group.
I'll contact those who are interested when there is enough people and we'll
start then. But for now, still in need of more people.
Just wondering is there anyone in MT forum that would like to do a writing/story
collaboration?
Something like a detailed roleplaying that has a storyline, detailed
descriptions, paragraphs dialogue and etc. A roleplay with different characters
to build up a story.
I'll be honest, it's the weekend and I've done pretty much everything that I
like and now I'm bored so this idea pop into my head. I'm in a writing mood
despite the fact I have had writer's block for sometime and wish to break out of
it. I guess I'm looking for inspiration and ALOT of motivation.
I haven't got a story plot in mind but if there are members that are interested
maybe we can work something out via pm and start building from there. I have a
story in here somewhere (check Userpage) and it'll give you an impression of
what I write but it's mainly action, drama, romance stuff.
Any questions feel to to ask.
It's just a thought, thanks anyways.
Edit: Since I have two people interested, I need 1 - 2
more before I'll come up with a story and get this collaboration
going.
You can search names in Google, that'll help too. E.g - "Japanese
Names." There are plenty of websites that have a whole list of names for
both gender. That's what helps me in choosing a name for my characters.
Bought the first book of 'Dark Heavens - White Tiger' plus the rest of the
series by Kylie Chan. Hoping it will last me for a week. Amazing book about the
Chinese culture and really exciting to read. I'd reccomend it to all those who
are interested in the chinese culture.
Quote: So, when did Nightwish end
up being all about Tarja?
I went ahead and bought their newest album, and you know what? It's the best
album I've heard since Wishmaster and Oceanborn. (Century Child and Nemo were
both rather disappointing albums.) And while Anette doesn't do soprano the same
way Tarja does, she's still doing an admirable job for the band. She's proven
herself to me, at least.
Going their separate ways might very well have been the best thing happening for
both parts, because, obviously, there has been frictions within the band for
some time. In the end, Nightwish has a new singer that does a good job,
difference in voice notwithstanding, and Tarja can pursue her solo career at her
own pace.
Nightwish is hardly doomed. They might lose the fans that are hung up on Tarja,
but that's about it.
I agree with Northy. ^
But I'll add some of my own opinions to this thread.
My answer to the poll is - they are both
good to me.
I'm kinda glad that they did go separate ways though because of the friction
that was in the band that way they can move on and achieve what they're aiming
for. Tarja can focus on her solo career singing the way and how she wants too.
Nightwish can go on playing music they enjoyed to their loyal fans without that
friction atmosphere around them. It's not like I don't like Tarja or anything
but it felt like they weren't achieving what they want when they were together,
imho.
Do I believe Nightwish is doomed? Hell no. Their new album just proves it. It's
bloody awesome and it has a balance of heavy and soft songs that displays
Anette's singing abilities with the little training she has [compared to Tarja].
She's proven to me that she has the potential to do even better than what she
has achieved in DDP (Dark Passion Play). Anette is able to tell the story and
send out the messages of Toumas' songwriting.
I'm looking forward to what the band's going to produce in the future.
I guess I'll have to say yes. If the music is played from a band that has nice
sound be it tone, pitch, rhythm, beat and etc, then yeah i'd like them
regardless to the lyrics. I'm like that with some metal bands where they have
amazing 'sound' playing from their performance, i don't listen for the lyrics
until I've enjoyed it. That's just my 2cents. =P
For me, I'd go with drinking parties. I love to drink to the point where I get
wasted BUT that's not going to happen anymore and I still like to catch up with
people and talk with them face to face. Also to get away from the computer and
hang out with them while having a beer and playing pool or some party game.
I don't think anime is really important for me right now. It use to be and I
pretty much am thankful of it because without it I wouldn't have been able to
draw as well as I did. It's helped me with my creativity to. Plus, Initial D is
what inspired me to write - not only racing but other genres and themes too.
So, it was kind of important at one stage in my life, but eventually I got over
it.
The novel is very detailed and it covers all the other characters/classmates.
How they died, what have they've been doing and etc. After reading the book, I
found it more enjoyable than the movie, too me, reading about the killing was
more gross than actually seeing it in the movie.
I've seen quite a few japanese movies. I think I've got a collection hidden in
my room somewhere. I'm not really into samurai movies but just like Onimusaru,
I've seen Shinobi. It's a good movie but it doesn't live up to the anime;
Basilisk, which its based from.
Favourite Japanese movie so far is Taiyou no Uta or Battle Royale series.
I enjoyed it. At first I was hesitant to watch this movie.. I didn't even know
it was out! Haha, but my friend... "Forced" me to go and I was
surprised that it entertained me and liked it. The ending kinda sucked though
which is a shame. No motion sickness for me, however. Lol.
Chiisa Koi No Uta - Mongol 800.
I haven't watched any anime for almost two years now or more.
I still read manga though. =P Lol.
Fair enough, personally, I have nothing against any phones.
Anyways, keep the posts coming because we want to hear what cell phone you have. =P
P.S - Last post from thread starter, for awhile.
I've been watching alot of dramas lately such as;
Proposal Daisakusen, Zettai Kareshi, H2, Dragon Zakura and Nobuta wo Produce.

Thanks for posting, yo!
BLUEBERRY MUFFINZ! Yum! Haha. xD

Ice Cream! Wanna lick? Psych! =P
Yakitori don! Especially the ones at Ramen Kan. Lol. Does the Unagi Don really taste that good? I want to try it...
